Woman held on kidnap charge

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Locals caught a woman labourer Yadamma, 25, when she allegedly tried to abduct a two-year-old girl Ishya from Fatehnagar in Sanathnagar police station area on Thursday.

A woman kidnapper, who is behind abduction of three boys earlier, took away a six-month-old boy from his mother from the same area on Wednesday. Initially, locals and police thought Yadamma could be the same woman believed to be responsible for all the four sensational kidnapping.

Inquiries revealed that Yadamma had nothing to do with the kidnapping of any of the four boys, Balanagar ACP S. Madhava Chary said. However, police found that earlier she was arrested in a couple of a cases -a petty case and trespass case- registered in Balanagar police station area. A local woman Safia Begum saw Yadamma carrying Ishya in her arms. "Begum smelt a rat on seeing Ishya cry. She intercepted Yadamma and called in the neighbours since the latter's explanation was unsatisfactory," the police said.
