THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Relieving the World Cup cricket fever, politicians on Thursday took on film stars and television artistes at a friendly match organised by the Kairali television channel. Various Ministers, including N.K. Premachandran, M. Vijayakumar and K.P. Rajendran, participated in the 10-over cricket match held at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium. Minister for Water Resources Mr. Premachandran who was accompanied by his son Karthik, a Class X student at Loyola School, Sreekaryam, said the match provided a great opportunity to relieve tension. "In our hectic official schedule we seldom get the time to relax. The match is a welcome break," he said. However, Mr. Premachandran said that he had not played any cricket since his college days. Minister for Revenue Mr. Rajendran recalled how he used to encourage other sportspersons in his college and even participated in some of the events as a substitute player. The team of artistes led by Baiju included Kottayam Nazeer, Suraj Venjaramood, Niyas, Arun, Yedu Krishnan, Shammi Thilakan and Manikkuttan.
