SSLC examinations begin

TIRUCHI: A total number of 29,671 students, including 15,398 girls, appeared for the SSLC public examinations in Tiruchi district on Thursday.

The Standard X examinations are being conducted for students under the State, Matriculation and Anglo-Indian Boards belonging to 316 schools and for 3,396 private candidates through 115 centres in the district.

The examinations for students under the Matriculation and the Anglo-Indian patterns commenced on Wednesday.

A press release said that the Education Department has constituted several flying squads and taken steps to prevent malpractice at the examination centres.

Accompanied by the Chief Educational Officer, R. Muthukrishnan, the District Collector, Ashish Vacchani, made surprise visits to St. James Matriculation School and R.C. Higher Secondary School, the release said.
