Congress accused of gross misrule

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: On the occasion of World Water Day, BJP leader in-charge Delhi affairs V.K. Malhotra on Thursday lamented that 40 per cent of the people of Delhi were still not getting any drinking water. Accusing the Congress of gross misrule, he said the functioning of the Delhi Jal Board has deteriorated so much that it was now supplying polluted water even in areas where VVIPs reside. Moreover, he said, crores of rupees have been wasted in the name of cleaning of the Yamuna which still remains extremely polluted. Stating that the problem lay in distribution of water, Prof. Malhotra said 42 per cent of the water is lost due to leakage from the pipes. He charged that the pace of repair work of the lines was too slow.
