Mohan Babu for a united Andhra Pradesh

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Actor and the former Telugu Desam Party MP, Mohan Babu, on Thursday emphasised that he was for a united Andhra Pradesh.

"I want Andhra Pradesh to remain united. We are all brothers... as a film actor I have received affection from all three regions... ''Mr. Babu told journalists at the Andhra Bhawan here.

His remarks come amid demands for a re-organisation of the State.

The former Rajya Sabha member from Rayalseema was at pains to explain that he was not making any statement as one who was in politics but preferred to sidestep questions on whether he would return to it in future.

Mr. Babu said he had distanced himself from politics and was now engaged in the field of education and attempting to implement the `Lab-to-land' concept mooted by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

The educational institution being run by his trust, offers 25 per cent of its seats free to the poor and the needy.
