`Budgetary grant to strengthen nanotechnology facility'

COIMBATORE:
The Rs. 1 crore grant announced in the State Budget will help in establishing and strengthening a nanotechnology facility on the university premises, Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University G. Thiruvasagam, said.
The grant was given by the Government to develop any department of the university into a centre of excellence. The Bharathiar University was the first university to receive the grant. The nanotechnology centre would offer graduate, post-graduate, diploma and post-diploma courses from the academic year of 2007. "The Centre that is being set up in collaboration with the University of Arkansas, the U.S., and the Defence Research and Development Organisation, will now have the participation of the State Government too," the Vice-Chancellor said.
