VISAKHAPATNAM: A civil constable was killed and two others were injured when members of the CPI (Maoist) opened fire on a combing party after setting off an explosive near Nelajartha village in the agency area on Friday. In the incident, which occurred near the border with East Godavari, they fixed an explosive on the top of a tree and set it off as the combing party came under it, unlike the usual practice of planting landmines and fixing claymore mines, according to information received here. Before the policemen could recover from the impact of the blast, the naxalites opened fire on them.
