YCC is champion

Bangalore : Young Challenging Cricketers emerged champion in the KSCA Group I fifth division league, which concluded here recently.

In the final, Young Challenging Cricketers defeated Gandhinagar Cricketers by seven wickets. Chasing 132 in its second innings, Young Challenging Cricketers scored the winning runs in 21.3 overs.

The scores:

Group I: Fifth division (final): Gandhinagar Cricketers 189 in 52.2 overs (B. Gangadhar four for 74) and 204 for eight in 30 overs (C. Vinay 91) lost to Young Challenging Cricketers 261 for nine in 55 overs (Naveen 79, Nithyanand 43, Chandrasekhar 41, Veera five for 65) and 133 for three in 21.3 overs (P. Chandrasekhar 52).

Group II (second division): Secretariat CC 100 in 19.1 overs (Ramesh 42, S. Subramanya Raju six for 48) lost to EPFRC 105 for three in 16 overs (Sree Kumar 43).

BEML Rail Coach SC 257 for eight in 50 overs (M. Alexander 75, Padma Prabhu 57 n.o., Kashinath five for 77) tied with SWR 257 in 49.1 overs (Kashinath 104, Sanjay 59).

BMTS SC 257 in 50 overs (Vinodh 43, Prasad 40, Venkatesh six for 70) lost to MICO SC 258 for four in 41.3 overs (V.N. Pramod 95, V.S. Prakasha 60).

Brace by Arun

A brace by forward Arun in the first half enabled his team Bengre Vidyarthi Sangha (Bengre) post a comfortable 2-0 win over Soccer FC (Ullal) in the Olympian Sanjiva K. Uchil memorial tournament being played in Mangalore. Arun scored in the 21st and 24th minutes.

Easy for SAI `A'

Sports Authority of India `A' scored a 3-0 victory over Madras Engineering Group (Boys) in the Travancore Cup hockey tournament played at the hockey stadium. Vineeth Michael (15th) opened the account followed by Nilesh's (48th & 56th) double strike.

Earlier Sports Authority of India `B' and Dhanraj Ballal Hockey Academy played out a 2-2 draw with Saad Ahmed (fourth, penalty corner) and Karthik (54th, penalty stroke) scoring for DBHA and A.K. Subbaiah (38th) and George (50th) scoring for Sports Authority of India `B'.
