GULBARGA: The number of students being debarred and expelled from SSLC examination centres in Gulbarga and Yadgir education districts for indulging in malpractice continues to rise. Nineteen students were debarred on Friday in the two education districts for indulging in malpractice, while 10 were expelled. Official sources said here on Friday that eight students were debarred from different examination centres in Gulbarga Education District and ten were expelled from Friday's examination by vigilance squad members during a surprise check. In Yadgir Education District, 11 students were debarred . The total number of students debarred in three days is 49 in the two education districts and 49 have been expelled. Thirty-seven students have been debarred in Gulbarga Education District, while 12 have been debarred in Yadgir Education District. Sources said the high number of students being debarred and expelled was owing to vigilance squads and their surprise visits to examination centres. Two chief supervisors and an invigilator were suspended for dereliction of duty and on charge of allowing copying at an examination centre at Mahagoan in Gulbarga Taluk and Old Roza area in Gulbarga city on Thursday. Criminal cases was registered against five persons on charge of impersonation on Thursday.
Arrested
Bidar Staff Correspondent reports: The police have arrested 25 persons for allegedly helping students copy during the SSLC examination in the district on Friday. As many as seven cases have been field against them, a release from Superintendent of Police Ravi S. said. Vigilance squads have debarred seven students for malpractice and eight were sent out of the examination hall, a release from Deputy Director of Public Instructions M. Devanand said. Deputy Commissioner Munish Moudgil said supervisors who abet malpractice in pre-university examinations would be suspended. Criminal cases would be filed against them and action taken against students who engage in illegal activities, he told meeting of teachers and heads of schools on Friday. The pre-university examination will be held from March 29 to April 16. As many as 11,670 students will take the examinations in 23 centres in the district. Four vigilance squads will be on duty.
