NEW DELHI:
With the decline in prices of essential commodities being offset by the increase in prices of certain other food articles, the rate of inflation held unchanged at 6.46 per cent for the week ended March 10, even as a section of the policymakers feared that there were signals of overheating in the economy. The unchanged inflation rate, however, brought no cheer to the UPA Government as it was way above the `comfort' level of 5-5.5 per cent and nearly double the rate of 3.80 per cent during the same week a year ago.
