New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday adjourned to Monday the hearing on a petition filed by Akilesh Yadav, son of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh, seeking a review of the court order that directed a preliminary probe into alleged disproportionate assets acquired by his family members. A Bench of Justices C.K. Thakker and Justices Altamas Kabir earlier asked counsel to serve a notice on petitioner Vishwanath Chaturvedi's counsel, informing him about the hearing on Monday. The review petition was posted before this Bench after Justice A.R. Lakshmanan (since retired), sitting along with Justice Kabir, recused himself from the case on March 16 on receipt of an anonymous letter. The Bench asked senior counsel Harish Salve, appearing for Mr. Akhilesh Yadav, whether the other side (petitioner) was informed that the case was to be heard on Friday. He said a letter was given to petitioner's counsel D.K. Garg but he refused to receive it, saying that the court had not issued any notice. The Bench asked Mr. Salve to serve a fresh letter and file an affidavit that counsel had refused to receive the letter.
