Inter-district gang of thieves arrested

KOZHIKODE: The city police arrested an inter-district gang of thieves involved in burglaries at 22 shops and 12 houses and numerous chain-snatching incidents in various parts of the city and its suburbs during the past two years.

Town police station Circle Inspector A.J.Babu told presspersons here on Friday that a police team nabbed three persons, M. Rafeek, hailing from Tanur, P. Sunesh, hailing from Vattoli and K. Sumesh, hailing from Thrissur, from Valliyandi while they were attempting to steal from a shop on Thursday night. Two members of the same gang who were involved in several theft cases were at present remanded at the Kozhikode district jail in connection with another case. Earlier, all the five of them were convicted for similar crimes, he said.
