HPCL Visakh refinery sets record

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd.'s Visakh Refinery has set a record by achieving the highest crude throughput of 9 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) for 2006-07.

The refinery, one of the PSU Navaratnas, is likely to close the financial year with 9.2 MMTPA.

The refinery Executive Director A.S. Rao congratulated the employees for the performance.

During the period the refinery has also made significant improvement in safety management and achieved 4.52 million safe man-hours without lost time accident up to February 2007.

BC panel visit

The AP Commission for Backward Classes will visit the district from March 25 to 27.

The Commission will conduct investigation and enquiry at S. Kota (in Vizianagaram district) and Araku mandals on March 25, reach Visakhapatnam on March 26 and visit surrounding mandals and Anantagiri and Dumbriguda mandals, and visit Narsipatnam on March 27.

The Commission leaves the city on the same day.
