HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh stands sixth on the national level in mobilising small savings, said Sabyasachi Ghosh, Director, Small Savings. Speaking after inaugurating the State-level Coordination Committee meeting on `Redressal of investors' grievances' here on Friday, he stressed the need to improve postal and banking services to investors. Mr. Ghosh said over Rs. 9,316 crores gross and Rs. 2,845 crores net were mobilised till February-end, against the annual target of Rs. 10,000 crores gross and Rs. 5,500 crores net for the current fiscal. Raja Babu, Regional Director, National Savings Institute, Bangalore, and committee chairman, said there were three categories of 34,000 agents working in Andhra Pradesh to promote small savings schemes. The institute was training the staff of the Postal department, banks and also agents, with a view to improving collections. T. Nambaiah, Assistant State Commissioner, Small Savings, spoke. Officers of SBI, SBH, State Bank of Mysore, Corporation Bank, HDFC, Postal and Small Savings attended.
