HYDERABAD:
Taking serious note of reports that the Juvenile Justice Act and other regulations for protection of children are not being implemented, the High Court constituted a committee headed by a judge to monitor the situation.
The Bench was reacting to a letter written by Sunitha Krishnan who lamented that the names of the minors sexually abused are being reported and all other sensitive issues pertaining to minors neglected. The Bench treated this as writ petition and after hearing the response from the State was shocked at the state of affairs.
The Bench headed by Chief Justice declared that a committee headed by Justice G. Rohini will head the committee and the Advocate General will be a member of this committee. The Bench asked the committee to submit a report every month and the Government to submit before the committee the steps being taken to implement the provisions of the Act.
