CHANDIGARH: Haryana Minister of State for Forests and Tourism Kiran Choudhry on Friday emphasized formulation of marketing strategies in collaboration with the private sector to boost tourism in the State. Talking to media persons after her return from Germany and Spain where she had gone to attend the ITB Berlin -2007, she said it was vital to promote tourism in the region and Haryana Tourism could play a pivotal role in collaboration with other northern States.

The Minister said that the Haryana delegation had also met the Secretary General of World Tourism Organization, Franscisco Frangialli, who had assured that the three projects submitted by the Haryana Government - developing farm and agri tourism, developing tourist resorts in public private partnership and formulating and implementing of appropriate marketing would be considered favourably.
The Spanish Ambassador had promised to send a special team of private entrepreneurs to Haryana who would explore the possibility of development of tourism in the State.
She disclosed that the tourism policy of the State would be formulated very soon.
She had written to all the Deputy Commissioners to identify historical places in their districts so that these could be converted into tourist spots.
