Chennai:
R. Rajendran, a 25-year-old resident of Puducherry, has entered the Limca Book of Records for his unique style of painting. He holds the paintbrush with his tongue!
After practising for seven years, Mr. Rajendran perfected the art of folding his tongue along the groove to steadily hold a paintbrush. His portrait of President A.P.J Abdul Kalam won him a place in the 2007 edition of the Limca Book of Records.
Mr. Rajendran painted the portrait in 127 hours at VGP Golden Beach Resort. "I worked day and night, starting on February 28 and finishing on March 5 last year," said Mr. Rajendran. The wrinkles in the portrait are made up of tiny human heads holding a brush in their mouths. "I wanted to add a personal touch to the portrait to show my style of art," said Mr. Rajendran.Chairman of VGP Group of Companies V.G. Santhosam sponsored Mr. Rajendran's work. His dream is to enter the Guinness Book of World Records.
"I want to paint a 30 feet by 20 feet portrait of Mother Teresa. I will continue to practise till I receive permission from the Guinness committee," he said.
