Telangana Samburalu opened

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS)-sponsored `Telangana Samburalu' festival got off to a grand start at the Nizam College grounds on Friday evening.

TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated the event that was attended by party MPs and MLAs. Cultural programmes, exhibits and food items attracted visitors.

Expressing resentment at the commercialisation of culture, art, conventions and food of Telangana as part of the festival, ballad singer Gadar staged a demonstration at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park. Gadar and another popular artiste Andesri sang songs.

In protest against commercial activity at the samburalu, the demonstrators indulged in free distribution of gruel and boiled channa.
