HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS) in collaboration with Satyam Foundation will conduct HIV/AIDS awareness programme with the theme "My future - My choice" for the students of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) affiliated colleges in the State. Under the programme, 30 students from each college will form a Red Ribbon Club to spread awareness after undergoing training with APSACS. The club members will conduct classes for other students. Emphasis would be laid on providing relevant information to students in the age group of 16 - 20 years, which will help them pursue a healthy life, said APSACS Project Director G. Ashok Kumar. Launching the programme here on Friday, JNTU Vice-Chancellor K. Rajagopal underscored the need to control the spread of the disease. He said that the university would contribute Rs.2.18 lakhs under the University Development Funds to the programme.
Handbook
Later Mr. Rajagopal released a handbook comprising FAQs on HIV/AIDS, basics for young adults and means to deal with peer pressure and other aspects.
