Payum Puli The film is an acidic remark on the performance of the Kerala police. Seeing how law and order is shown thrown to the winds, one wonders if Kochi has become another Mumbai. "Quotation" Saravanan (Kalabhavan Mani) enjoys the reputation of being a good-willed ruffian, who retrieves vehicles for a big lending company through muscle power. He arrives in Kochi to expend his shady dealings and rents a house on a prime location. Malli (Rambha) also stays there with her grandparents. A millionaire, Jose (Sai Kumar), wants to get that family evicted and construct a commercial complex on the site. Malli objects, and Sarvanan, who initially quarrels with her, lends muscle support to her in defeating Jose's evil designs. Rambha essays a determined and zealous character. Jagathi and Salim Kumar create laughs. Sai Kumar, as usual in a villainous role, is boring. Jagannatha Varma and Sukumari, as grandparents, add flavour with their presence. Bhiman Raghu is convincing as a cruel cop. Songs, written by Girish Puthancherri and tuned by Mohan Sithara, are fast. Director Mohan Kupleri has attempted a thriller.
