The others receiving the Padma Vibhushan awards are (top row, from left): Fali S. Nariman, legal expert, V. Mahalingam, industrialist, (middle row) Ramankutty Nair, Kathakali exponent, Osamu Suzuki, Chairman and CEO of Suzuki Motors Corporation, Jamshedji J. Irani, Director on the board of Tata Steel and Ela Gandhi, Gandhian activist from South Africa. The recipients of the Padma Shri are: Kiran Karnik, president NASSCOM, (bottom row) Koneru Humpy, international chess Grandmaster, Geeta Chandran, Bharatanatyam dancer, Naorem Ongbi Neelamani Devi, master craftsperson from Manipur, Meenakshi Gopinath, Principal, Lady Shri Ram College and Syed Saiyidain Hameed, member, Planning Commission.
