BANGALORE: A total of 14,960 candidates will be awarded degrees at the ninth convocation of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) to be held at the NIMHANS Convention Hall here on Saturday. Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravishankar and Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade will be awarded Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) on the occasion. As many as 3,136 candidates are eligible to receive the certificates in person and 11,824 in absentia. But only 460 candidates have applied to receive their certificates in person on the day of the convocation. In all, 2,246 candidates will receive MBBS degree, while 1,901 candidates will get BDS degree. A total of 1,545 candidates will be presented Ayurvedacharya (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) degree. The Bachelor of Pharmacy degree will be conferred on 1,997 candidates, B.Sc. Nursing (Basic) on 2,340, Bachelor of Physiotherapy on 932 candidates, and Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery on 244 candidates, according to a release.
