Bangalore: Thinker and philosopher U.G. Krishnamurti, 89, died at Vallecrosia, Italy, on Thursday. Affectionately called UG by friends and admirers, Mr. Krishnamurti slipped and injured himself seven weeks ago and was bed-ridden. His long-time friends, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, Larry and Susan Morris and a few others, were at his bedside when the end came. Mr. Krishnamurti, who moved to Italy in January, had been suffering from cardio spasm for many years and it became quite severe in the last days. According to his wishes, no rituals or funeral rites were performed. He did not leave any specific instruction on how his body should be disposed of, his friend and admirer A.P. Frank Noronha said. The cremation was done by Mr. Bhatt on Friday. Mr. Krishnamurti is survived by two daughters and a son. - PTI
