Basketball championships

HYDERABAD: The mini-National basketball championships for under-13 boys and girls will be held at the Kripal Sagar Academy, Rahon, Nawah Shahr District, Punjab, from May 7 to 13, according to FIBA Commissioner, Norman Isaac.

Boys and girls born on after January 1, 1994 are eligible to take part in the tournament.

Teams from Sri Lanka, in addition to those from Kerala, Karnataka, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh will take part in the South Zone championships at the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Indoor Stadium, Yousufguda, Hyderabad from September 5 to 9.

The schedule (age cut-off dates in brackets): May 7 to 13: Mini-Nationals, Kripal Sagar Academy, Rahon, Punjab (1-1-1994).

May 21 to 28: National youth (under-16) championships, RDSO, Lucknow (1-1-`91). June 12 to 19: Junior National (under-18), SAAP Stadium, Anantapur (1-1-`89). December 21 to 28: Senior Nationals, Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Puducherry. — Special Correspondent
