BANGALORE: South Indian Bank announced here on Saturday total implementation of core banking solutions (CBS) in all its 475 branches. Chairman and Chief Mentor of Infosys Technologies, N. R. Narayana Murthy, whose company's Finacle software is powering the CBS implementation, said the bank had shown its commitment to the core values of excellence. "These include being open to new ideas, recognising merit and being focused on innovation and speed." The Chairman and CEO of South Indian Bank, V. A. Joseph, recalled its progress since 1929. In the 1940s it took over 14 smaller ailing banks. "We were among the first banks from the region to open an NRI branch in West Asia. The bank looked forward to ending the current fiscal having done Rs. 20,000 crore business, he added. Senior executives of Wipro Infotech, which implemented the security systems, and HCL Infosystems, which carried out the networking solution for the bank, were felicitated by the Chief General Manager of the bank, M. Valsan.
