BELLARY: Kolur Basavanagowda, former MP, has appealed to Energy Minister H.D. Revanna to spare Bellary and three other districts adjoining it from power cuts during summer. In a letter, he has drawn the attention of Mr. Revanna to the Government's action of sparing the four districts, which are known as the hottest region, from power cuts during summer. Government offices in Bellary, Gulbarga, Raichur and Bijapur districts function between 8 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. owing to the heat. The day temperature touches 45 degree Celsius in these districts, he has said.
A shock to residents
The announcement of load shedding has come as a shock to the people of Bellary district. For power cuts will only cause inconvenience to the people, particularly farmers and students. Drinking water supply will also be hit, he has said.
