Counting of votes today

TAKING STOCK: Collector D. Kadmiel reviewing arrangements for counting of votes of the Rayalaseema West Graduates Constituency at the Government Polytechnic in Anantapur on Saturday.

ANANTAPUR: All arrangements are in place for the counting of votes of Rayalaseema West Graduates and Teachers Constituencies of Legislative Council here. The counting will commence at 8 a.m. on Sunday.

The process is going to be a long affair as there are 44 candidates in the fray for the Graduates constituency and nine for the Teachers constituency. Counting teams will work in shifts of six hours each and the process is likely to continue till Monday morning. In all, 81 per cent polling was recorded for teachers and 68 for graduates constituency in Anantapur, Kurnool and Kadapa districts, which comprise the Rayalaseema West constituency. Of the 1,47,137 graduate voters 96,359 exercised their franchise and of the 13,474 teachers 11,503 had voted.
