JAIPUR: Academicians, educationists and researchers will deliberate on production and distribution of "knowledge capital" in diverse domains in the light of the 2006 report of the National Knowledge Commission at a symposium on "Knowledge systems in poor-rich India" beginning here on Sunday. The Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University, Kota, is organising the three-day symposium. The event will examine techno-economic dynamism of India in the new millennium and reflect on the role of open and distance learning educational institutions in enhancing the knowledge capital. Vice-Chancellor Naresh Dadhich said here on Saturday that the participants would also discuss the National Knowledge Commission's recommendations for establishment of an independent Regulatory Authority for higher education 1and on information technology applications, libraries, e-governance and knowledge network. While National Knowledge Commission chairman Sam Pitroda will participate in the symposium through video conferencing, other participants will include S.D. Muni of JNU, former Union Education Secretary Anil Bordia, former Rajasthan High Court Judge M.R. Kalla, and former Pro-Vice Chancellor of AMU, H.A.S. Jafri.
