CHANDIGARH: Haryana has succeeded in eliminating neo-natal tetanus and even the Central Government has declared the State free from this disease, Health Minister Kartar Devi said on Saturday. She said the State Government had received a communication from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare acknowledging that neo-natal tetanus had been eliminated from Haryana. Describing it as a major achievement of the State, she said, the status of neo-natal tetanus elimination would be maintained by promoting institutional deliveries and ensuring a high level of Tetanus Toxide (TT) coverage among pregnant women. Also, surveillance for neo-natal tetanus would be stepped up.
