Students take out rally at Tiruchendur

Tuticorin: The Collector, R. Palaniyandi, flagged off a rally conducted by the District Tuberculosis Control Society (DTCS) at Tiruchendur near here on Saturday to mark the World TB Day.

Students and social workers carried placards with messages on detecting tuberculosis and preventing its spreading.

The public were told to consult a doctor if they had continuous cough for more than three weeks, fever in the evenings, blood stained sputum, loss of appetite and chest pain, which are some symptoms of tuberculosis.

The DTCS also conducted a camp in Tuticorin to inform pharmacists on the correct dosage of rifamycin, ethambutol and pyrazinamide to be administered to affected children.

Pharmacists posted at 47 Primary Health Centres and nine Government Hospitals in the district attended the meeting.

The Deputy Director of Health Services, S. Uma, the Deputy Director of Medical Services (TB), R.Balasubramani, and senior officials of various departments were present.
