Relief sanctioned to journalist's family

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Saturday sanctioned Rs. 1 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to the family of Lakshminarayana, a reporter of Eenadu daily in Bhikanoor mandal of Nizamabad district, who died after a massive heart attack on March 21.

This followed a representation by a delegation of journalists from Nizamabad district, which met him along with the Minister for Information and Public Relations, Md. Ali Shabbir.

The journalists said that the reporter hailed from a poor family and his wife and a son were in dire straits.

Responding to the plea, Dr. Reddy said the Government would provide Rs. 1 lakh from the relief fund.

The 36-year-old journalist had worked for various newspapers in Bhikanoor mandal headquarter for the last 16 years.
