Water level

MADURAI: The water level in the Periyar dam stood at 109 feet (136 feet) with no inflow and discharge. The level in the Vaigai dam was 31.59 feet with a discharge of 41 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit stood at 840 mcft.

Help centres planned

People's Anti-corruption Movement has planned to form `help centres' at all taluk headquarters to assist people in getting information under the `Right To Information Act.' At the executive committee meeting held on Saturday, it resolved to form the centres that would initially function on select days and, later, on all days, says a press release.

Seminar for doctors

The Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH), is organising a two-day national seminar from Saturday to mark the retirement of T. Prabhakaran, Head of the department. Addressing a press meet here on Friday, M. Chidambaram, Dean (in-charge), GRH, said that about 200 surgeons from all over the country would participate in the continuing medical education programme.

"A practical demonstration of two surgeries will be performed. They will be conducted at the GRH and transmitted live to the venue," he said.
