KSP lauds Government

The Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) has lauded the Government's resolve on derecognition of schools that were found to have been flouting the State's language policy.

In a press release here on Friday, KSP president Chandrashekhar Patil said the Government should also keep in abeyance its decision to introduce English as a language from first standard until a case in the High Court on the language issue is settled.

Protest for water

Residents of T. Dasarahalli staged a demonstration at Jalahalli circle on Saturday demanding drinking water supply. It was organised by T. Dasarahalli Block Congress Committee.

They alleged that the Government had failed to supply drinking water to the people of erstwhile T. Dasarahalli, Bommanahalli, Rajarajeshwaringar municipal bodies though infrastructure was created several months back.

Power failure

Rajajinagar, Vijayanagar, Chandra Layout and surrounding areas suffered power failure for more than four hours on Saturday evening.

The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. (KPTCL) control room said the "jump cut" at the New Receiving Station on West of Chord had caused the problem. Power supply in a few areas was restored by 10.30 p.m.
