Rao succeeded his mentor Kodandaramaiah. Speaking to the media, Rao promised to develop the game at the grassroots-level with special emphasis on sub-junior and junior segments. "The game is popular in certain districts like Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Vizag, Krishna and Guntur. Efforts will be made to develop the game in all districts with the involvement of district associations and physical education teachers in a big way," he said. APVA General Secretary, L.
