FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, flanked by his wife Vijayalakshmi and son Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, releasing the book `Mckenzie Kaifiyats' at Idupulapaya on Sunday.
IDUPULAPAYA: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy announced plans to establish an IIIT growth centre in each of the three regions in the State and promised a budgetary support of Rs. 30 crores each.
Foundation laid
An IIIT growth centre would come up at Idupulapaya and the area would be developed into an education corridor, he announced after laying foundation stones for a 21st century gurukulam and Yogi Vemana University West campus at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district on Sunday. Gandi has the ancient Sri Prasanna Anjaneyaswamy temple and an eco-tourism park, Yogi Vemana University campus, gurukulam and IIIT growth centre would come up at Idupulapaya and hence the area would be developed into a tourism and education centre, the Chief Minister said. He announced grant of Rs. 3 crores for setting up a centre for job-oriented diploma courses in the university. He announced plans to establish a 21st century gurukulam in all the districts, in a bid to impart skills and training to gear up students from a rural backdrop to effectively compete with their urban counterparts. Lauding efforts of YVU Vice-Chancellor A. Ramachandra Reddy in developing the university, he promised the Government's support. Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy announced sanction of permanent drinking water supply scheme from Pennar river to Yogi Vemana University campus and widening of the 7-km-long road from Gandi to Idupulapaya into a four-lane road. Minister for Higher Education P. Venkateswara Rao, Chairman of IIIT, Hyderabad Raj Reddy, Chairman of Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education K.C. Reddyand others also spoke. The Chief Minister's wife Vijayalakshmi, son Jaganmohan Reddy and daughter Sharmila and grandchildren occupied the dais along with the dignitaries. Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy released the fourth volume of `Mckenzie Kaifiyats' and YVU's first anniversary souvenir.
