Air India Express to launch flights today

Special Correspondent

TIRUCHI: Air India Express, the subsidiary of Air India, is all set to launch its operations from Tiruchi.

The first flights of the airlines, on the Tiruchi-Dubai and the Tiruchi-Chennai-Singapore sectors, will be flagged off on Monday.

The introduction of the services fulfils a long-felt demand for air services here. Though the budget airline had planned to introduce the services last year, the launch of the services was delayed till the completion of the runway extension work at the Tiruchi Airport.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the launch in the City on Sunday, the Executive Director (Ground Services) of Air India, S. Ranganathan, said Air India Express would consider introducing more services from the city once the infrastructure at the airport was strengthened.

The airline would consider introducing services from Coimbatore and Madurai once the expansion work at the airports was completed.
