GUNTUR: Students of R.V.R & J.C. College of Engineering, Chowdavaram, have shown their mettle at the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)- 2007 and in placements in various companies. Leading software firms conducted campus interviews this year and recruited 302 students so far from the college. A majority of them got selected in I.T. firms, but students from mechanical engineering, production, and chemical engineering too got absorbed in other leading companies. Some of the major constriction firms have absorbed 42 students from the civil engineering department.
Aptitude test
Of the selected candidates, 62 were from the computer science department, 39 from the information technology, 60 from the electronics department, 27 from electrical stream and 17 from mechanical engineering stream. From the college 130 final year students qualified at the GATE exam. Principal of the college P.S. Sankara Rao said the students who qualified would be eligible to pursue M. Tech and M.E. in Indian and foreign universities. Of the 130 students, 18 were from the civil engineering department, 22 each from the chemical engineering, electronics, electrical and mechanical engineering departments. The students were trained by senior professors at the college, Mr. Rao said. As many as 102 students secured good percentages in the GRE and Toefl, paving the way for pursuing higher studies at universities abroad, he said. College president K. Basavapunnaiah, secretary M. Gopalakrishna congratulated the students on their achievement.
