`Motivate parents to enrol out-of-school children'

Foundation stone laid for additional classrooms

Hosur: Collector Santhosh Babu on Sunday laid the foundation stone for additional classrooms under the Sarva Shiksha Abiyan (SSA) at Rs.4.3 lakh at Kakkadasam panchayat union primary school.

He also inaugurated a computer centre established in the school under the World Vision project. The Collector inspected the Kasturiba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya residential school at Shoolagiri near here. He instructed teachers concerned to pay special attention to children studying in the school. Teachers should motivate parents to enrol all out-of-school children in their areas in appropriate schools. The district administration was ready to extend all assistance to parents.

Hi-tech agriculture

The Collector also visited the Farmers Field School at Mayanayakanahalli. He interacted with the farmers and asked them to adopt hi-tech agriculture techniques to increase their crop productivity. Mr. Babu also inspected the Skill Development Training Centre run by Myrada at Thally and distributed certificates to candidates who had completed the course.

The Collector distributed learning materials sponsored by the Indian Tobacco Company (ITC) to 23 schools in and around Hosur. He also visited the assembling of watchstraps and jewellery by SHGs attached to Myrada at Mathigiri.

Stressing on the importance of toilets he said that the district administration had started a major campaign to provide toilets to all households in Krishnagiri district within March 2008.

Subsidy

He asked public to make use of the subsidy provided by the Government for construction of toilets. Project Officer DRDA J. Sampath, Project Coordinator Myrada Shivarudrappa, Project Manager World Vision Y. Sarala, AGM NABARD V. Thirumalai and Manager ITC Anirudh Sengupta were present.
