HYDERABAD: The size of the Eleventh Five Year Plan, commencing next week, would be about Rs. 15 lakh crores, Planning Commission Member-Secretary Rajeeva Ratna Shah has said. He said here on Monday that the investments would be progressively increased from Rs. 2.12 lakh crores in the first year (2007-08) to Rs. 3.50 lakh crores in the last year (2011-12).

The plan was under preparation and the document would be released by September-end, he added. Mr. Shah called on Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to discuss the flagship programmes of the Central Government, including the Bharat Nirman, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Indira Awas Yojana and rural road connectivity.
Major works
Dr. Reddy informed him that major works on urban amenities were taken up in the State under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). Hyderabad would witness a sea change in the next few years,he said.
