HASSAN: It was a unique drama presentation at the Kala Bhavan here on Sunday. In their bid to enter the Limca Book of World Records, "Niranthara" artistes staged 10 plays, nine of them of 15 minutes' duration, one after the other. One of the plays staged was "Spota," a play that was staged by director Nanjunda Mim in 2003. Its theme was "use atom for peace and not for destruction of universe." This set a world record. It was almost a live interaction between the artiste and the audience. "Mauna," a silent play had as its theme communal harmony. The artistes included C.P. Saravana Kumar, Kannada Vasu, Chennakeshava, Shivashankarappa, Mimikri Govinda, G.R. Mohan, Chandramauli and C.S. Jyothi Mim. Mr. Nanjunda Mim directed all the plays and Ganga Charan scored the music. Ravindra and Venkatesh took care of stage settings. The other plays staged were "Antharala," "Jagruthi," "Kurchi," "Vikendrikarana," "Bavuta," "Vyavasthe," "Beku/Beda" and "Parisara." The first was "Antharala" threw light on the importance of education. Jagruthi threw light on HIV/AIDS, and "Bavuta" on how to rule the country on the basis of "dharma." "Parisara" dealt with the importance of environment. Karnataka Nataka Academy member Chandru Kalenahalli who inaugurated the presentation called upon the artistes not to throw away values for the sake of creating a record. Every effort should be made to ensure that quality was maintained, Mr. Kalenahalli said.
