It is "Viva Cuba" at Thripunithura. A Cuban film festival, organised by Mahatma Library and Reading Room, Thripunithura, in connection with its year-long platinum jubilee celebrations, will begin on Wednesday. The three-day festival, to be held at Kalamandalam Ramu Hall of the library, will have three films made by leading filmmakers of Cuba. C.S. Venkiteswaran, director of School of Media Studies, Kakkanad, will inaugurate the festival. Raveendran, actor, and M.D. Sukumaran, director, will offer felicitations. After the inaugural session, Viva Cuba, directed by Juan Carlos Cremata Malberti, will be screened. On the second day, Suite Habana, directed by Fernando Perez, will be screened. The festival will conclude with the screening of Barrio Cuba, a 2005 film by the celebrated filmmaker Humberto Solas. The festival is being organised in association with the Cuban Embassy at New Delhi and One World Visual School, Thripunithura. The screenings will start at 6 p.m. every day.
