Laurels all the way

Staff ReporterRasheed Kappan

BANGALORE: The people who made Infosys a global name may not be short on awards. But for Infosys co-founder, G.K. Jayaram, the Social Leadership Award he received on Monday was special.

He was honoured by the Dayananda Sagar Institutions (DSI) here "for his continued contribution towards education, technological development and society." For DSI, the award was one way to recognise emerging leaders and business magnates for their contribution in various fields. Mr. Jayaram recalled how a leader like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had the vision to make budget allocations for education.

This foresight, according to him, is the biggest gift given to Indians.
