MYSORE: Divya Deepa Charitable Trust, a non-profit organisation working for the welfare of underprivileged children, is organising "Mysooru Unplugged," a cultural extravaganza, with a view to raising funds for construction of a building for "Kaliyuva Mane" on the outskirts of the city. The trust is now supporting 24 underprivileged children at "Kaliyuva Mane" (Home for Learning). Of the 24 children there, nine are resident students and the rest day scholars, the trust's representative Anant Kumar said at a press conference here. "Mysooru Unplugged" would be a common platform for organisations, business houses, professionals, students, housewives, senior citizens to come together and work for a noble cause, he said. "It will be an event by Mysoreans for the benefit of children who are deprived of basic needs such as education, financial assistance, moral support, love and care," he added. "Vayam," a clique of youngsters that has the distinction of being the first all-student event management group of Mysore, will be the event managers for the programme. Vasu Chakkera, musician and composer will be performing with his team. Swarathma, an Indian fusion band comprising five young musicians from Mysore, will also give a performance. The PKB Kalaripayatt Trust, "Vidhi," a skit team, and three dance troupes "Paradise," "Passionate" and "Monsters" will also present programmes.
