NEW DELHI: Nationalist Congress Party leader and the former Kerala Chief Minister, K. Karunakaran, said here on Tuesday that the Samajwadi Party would emerge the single largest party after the Uttar Pradesh elections. Talking to mediapersons, he said the Congress had a long way to go to regain control of the State. Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Ajit Singh met him on Tuesday at the Kerala House. He said the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government in Kerala was performing badly. Alleging that Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan "has become a nobody,'' he said the State required a strong man at the top. Mr. Karunakaran said the inexperience of the State Ministers was showing. They were unable to implement the promises they made on television. He said law and order had collapsed since the LDF took charge last year. Also, the number of suicides among farmers was on the rise.
