NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday sought to downplay the decision of rebel and Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath to field his candidates in around 75 constituencies for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. It said it had tried to accommodate everybody and hoped better sense would prevail on him. Unmindful of the talks he had with senior BJP leaders here, including L.K. Advani, Yogi Adityanathannounced on Tuesday that he would field candidates in 14 districts as the saffron party had "humiliated" him. He has decided to field candidates under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha. BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said: "All issues were resolved to the satisfaction of all and we hope that better sense will prevail." The MP wanted more than two-dozen candidates of his choice to be cleared by the party.
