Show-cause notice to 30 doctors

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A meeting of the core committee held here on Tuesday, with Health Minister P.K.Sreemathy in the chair, decided to issue show-cause notice to all the 30 doctors of the Kasaragod District Hospital functioning at Kanhangad. The decision has been taken on the basis of an inquiry conducted by the Director of Health Services (DHS) Dr.T.K. Kuttamani, into the complaint that they are not reporting for Out Patient (OP) duty on time. Even though the OP wing is supposed to start functioning at 8 a.m., they reached the specialist OP only after 10.30 a.m. and left at 12 noon.

The Health Minister received a complaint in this regard. When the DHS conducted an enquiry he found the complaint to be true. There are 30 doctors in the hospital and all of them are specialists.

The meeting found that the functioning of the hospital, which had all the facilities for working in an effective manner, was a shambles. It is in this context that the meeting resolved to issue notices to show-cause why action should not be taken against to all the doctors.
