Plan to disburse Rs. 1,404 crore in Bellary district

Rs. 637 crore for agriculture activities


  • Crop loan gets a huge share of Rs. 454 crore
  • Rs. 293 crore set aside for retail trade and small business

    BELLARY: The district credit plan envisaging a total disbursement of Rs. 1,404 crore for the year 2007-08 was launched here on Tuesday. Of the total outlay, a sum of Rs. 1,104 crore has been earmarked for priority sector, (an increase of about 23 per cent over the previous year) and Rs. 300 crore for non-priority sector.

    Being an agriculturally predominant district, the plan aims to disburse nearly Rs. 637 crore for agriculture and allied activities. Of which, crop loan gets a huge share of Rs. 454 crore.

    Small-scale industries and non-farm sector (under secondary sector) has been allocated Rs. 173 crore and Rs. 293 crore has been set aside for retail trade and small business falling under tertiary sector.

    The plan also envisages to disburse Rs. 0.60 crore under Swarna Jayanti Swarojgar Yojana, Rs. 16.92 crore under Sampoorna Grama Swarojgar Yojana besides allocating Rs. 482.45 crore under various government sponsored programmes, which includes finance to women and other weaker sections of the society.

    Sector-wise allocation

    Following is the sector-wise potential-linked plan projections consolidated by the lead bank of the district Syndicate bank (Rs. in crore): Minor irrigation 45.63; land development 8.35; farm mechanization 39.03; plantation and horticulture 11.29; sericulture 1.36; forestry and wasteland development 0.30; dairy 13.03; poultry 13.09; sheep/goat/piggery 2.93; fisheries 2.69; storage godowns and market yards 33.49; renewable source of energy and waste utilization 0.89; others (agriculture) 4.19; crop loan 461.84. Under the non-farm sector the allocation is 165.42; agro and food procession 8.46; other priority sector 292.59.

    Implementation

    A total of 198 bank branches in the district including 65 regional rural banks, 31 cooperative banks and 101 commercial bank branches will implement the credit plan.

    C.M. Shirol, zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer, launched the credit plan. G. Karunakar Reddy, MP, Prabhakar, Assistant General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, were among the chief guests.

    Ramana Rao, Assistant General Manager, NABARD, gave the highlights of the credit plan. Janardhan, manager of Syndicate bank, welcomed the gathering.

    As against the credit plan target of Rs. 782.05 crore under priority sector, for the third quarter ending during the year 2006-07, the disbursement stood at Rs. 781.01 crore. Of this Rs. 544.19 crore was for agriculture and allied activities, Rs. 72.28 crore for secondary and Rs. 164.54 crore for tertiary sector.
