Special Correspondent

SOLIDARITY FOR `IIT BASAR': TDP leaders — K. Yerran Naidu and Ravula Chandrasekhara Reddy (partly seen) — calling on S. Venugopalachari in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

HYDERABAD: Former Union Minister and TDP leader S. Venugopalachary and representatives of other political parties, who are on an indefinite fast here since Saturday demanding IIT at Basar in Adilabad district, resisted a late night attempt by the police to shift them to Gandhi Hospital.

The leaders, including A. Sreedevi, TDP legislator, and those belonging to the TRS, the CPI(M), the CPI, the BJP and the CPI(ML), put up a tent on the premises of the hospital and continued the fast. Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader K. Yerran Naidu and party general secretary Kadiam Srihari called on the fasting leaders on Tuesday.

Mr. Venugopalachary said that the Government wanted to shift them to the hospital in view of the tremendous response to the fast from different sections. He said the hunger strike would continue till the Government responded favourably to their demand.
