HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded that all the associate members of the Delimitation Commission from the State submit their resignation as "they worked to suit the partisan interests of a few individuals to the detriment of Constitutional provisions for the protection and integration of SCs." The BJP has urged commission chairman Justice Kuldeep Singh to take up the delimitation process in a fair, transparent and just manner.
Open letter to YSR
In his 40th open letter to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, party State president Bandaru Dattatreya said despite having substantial SC population, Rajahmundry Lok Sabha seat, represented by Congress MP V. Arun Kumar, was not reserved because of pressure from the latter. The same was the case with Ongole, represented by Magunta Srinivasula Reddy, which was not reserved and Nellore, represented by Union Minister Panabaka Lakshmi, being made general to suit N. Janardhan Reddy. Subjective factors like `region' and `cluster' that found no mention in the Delimitation Act were brought in. He demanded that associate members explain as to why different criteria had been applied for the Jukkal reserved seat and those represented by Mr. Arun Kumar and Mr. Srinivasula Reddy.
