Palvai's turn to fume at APCC chief

Special Correspondent

Palvai Govardhan Reddy

HYDERABAD: Newly-elected Congress MLC Palvai Goverdhan Reddy has charged APCC president K. Keshava Rao with engineering cross-voting against him in the elections to the Legislative Council from MLAs' quota.

Referring to the elections, Mr. Reddy said on Tuesday that he got one vote short than the earmarked nine first preferential votes and it was obvious that independent candidate Kasani Gnaneswar was the beneficiary of cross-voting.

Speaking to a local TV news channel, he alleged that the MLA who flouted the party whip was a follower of Dr. Rao. Mr. Reddy said he would bring this to the notice of the high command and seek an enquiry.

Mr. Reddy is the second senior leader to make allegations against the APCC president.

One of the general secretaries of the APCC D. Nagender, too, quit the party accusing Dr. Rao of working against his interests and denying party ticket to him for the Council elections.
